Chapter 10. Image and shape

MS Excel has the ability to add images to the worksheets. ExcelExplorer supports reading images that have been added from the file or clipart. It can read not only still images but also animation in GIF format. Self-drawn images currently not supported.

Each image stored in the Excel file once, but it can be used in the several worksheets. The position and dimensions of each image stored in the shapes.

So, to obtain images from the specified worksheet you need first to obtain shape (EEShape object) from this worksheet that contains information about image position, width, height and image index. After that you can read image data using image index from the EEShape object. Image itself stored in the EEImage object as well as image type (JPEG, BMP, PNG, etc.).

EEShape object can be obtained using the method EEWorksheet->Shape() of the EEWorksheet class.

EEImage object can be obtained using one of the following methods of ExcelExplorer class: ExcelExplorer->Image() or the ExcelExplorer->ImagesList().
